Fishing Report – Wednesday 11th March 2026

We have had some pretty good weather over the long weekend along with good tides, fishing reports are mixed though and there has been a lack of Tuna around on the lower EP, further up the coast there is no such problem.

There’s plenty of other fish around biting hard and here is what has been biting over the past week.

Elliston

Salmon can be found off most of the beaches in the area to some degree, we have only had a few reports but all have been promising. Sheringa, Locks Well and Talia have all had Salmon and the beaches around Streaky are much the same. Sharks can be caught at Talia and also around Streaky Bay. Some nice Gummies and Bronze Whaler Sharks can be caught from the surf.

Whiting and some nice Flathead can be caught off of the more shallower beaches between Elliston and Streaky Bay and there’s also Mullet, Tommies, Garfish and Salmon Trout that can also be caught from the beaches as well.

Offshore fishing has been generally quite good in the Elliston to Streaky Bay area. Tuna are going well out from Scaele Bay and Streaky and also out from Elliston. Zerek Speed Donkey lures and the Halco Dirty Harry and Napalm Laser Pro colours have been quite good for the Tuna.

Nannygai reports have been generally good but some areas around Streaky have been reported to be a bit quieter than normal. Big Samson fish and Kingfish can still be caught out from Elliston on the reefs out from Flinders Island, big jigs like the Daiwa and JT Jigs have been good and trolling the big Nomad DTX 200 lures and Rapala X Rap 40 have also been good for these fish.

Coffin Bay

Now is the time to really start fishing for the Flathead in Coffin Bay, there’s a few good ones right now that are being caught, use soft plastics like the Jackson Bone Baits, Daiwa Bait Junkies and Arma Paddle Tails are also quite good for the Flathead, even the Z-Man plastic worms are good for the Flathead and you can catch Whiting on them also. There’s plenty of Salmon Trout, Tommies, Garfish and some nice Whiting coming in from within the bays and there’s also some nice Gummy Sharks around.

Farm Beach is good for Whiting with no shortage of fish around, there are plenty of good reports have come in the bag limits caught in no time which has been the case for a few months now. Garfish also are around in good numbers as well as Snook and a few Squid.

For offshore fishers Tuna are quite scarce in a number of areas, Rocky Island is where there should be some fish, most other areas have been very average  for Tuna for a few weeks now. Nannygai, Blue Morwong and School Sharks can be caught in abundance on the reefs with Vexed Bottom Meat jigs by far the best way to catch these fish. Hopefully some bait and warm water comes back through to bring in the Tuna.

Salmon fishing has been good at Greenly, Almonta and Gunyah Beaches, there are still plenty of fish around off of these beaches and the fishing should only get better.

 Port Lincoln

Fishing off the jetties is pretty good with a mixture of Salmon Trout, Tommies, Snook, Garfish, Whiting, Squid and some Blue Crabs all being caught off of the jetties, the town jetty and main wharf are the best areas. Whiting should now be a worthwhile target off the rocks at Tulka and along the North Shore. Use longer lighter surf rods for this type of fishing to be able to reach the sand patches, we have plenty of combos in store for this type of fishing if you want to try it out.

For boat fishers, Crabs are still the main news with plenty out there in many areas. Spalding Cove, Proper Bay and Limani are just few areas worth trying but there are plenty of other areas to try. There’s also plenty of Snook and Garfish out there and Squid are better with some better news on the Squid front, they are mostly around Boston Island and further north where the best numbers of Squid can be found. Whiting will also improve from now on in the bays.

Further down the coast Taylors and Thistle Island are loaded with whiting and snook, Squid are patchy and there’s some good areas of garfish. Offshore fishing for tuna has been average, The Cabbage Patch is the only place with Tuna by the sounds of it and you need plenty of pilchards to burley them up. There are some rat Kingfish there and some big Bronze Whaler Sharks.

Elsewhere some good Nannygai and a few Blue Morwong were reported closer to Williams Island but Snapper look to be invading the area again.

Salmon fishing at Sleaford is still great if the schools of Salmon come in close. Sharks have been herding the fish out but when they are in close its great fun casting lures out to them. Jackson Metal Effects, Buku Flutter jigs and the Arma Flash Harry’s have been excellent for the Salmon.

Tumby Bay

Quite good fishing here with the best reports out at the group. Whiting have been high on the list plenty of big ones caught here. The Vexed Micro Meat jigs working superbly for the Whiting here. Big Snook are plentiful, Garfish, some big Silver Trevally have also been caught here. Squid have been caught enough for a feed as well. In closer there’s Whiting, Snook and Garfish mostly on offer and all can be caught both south and North of Tumby. There are patches of Squid and some quite good in size, you just have to find them.

Yellowfin Whiting can be caught off of the beaches some have been caught on lures but baits have been working well too.

Port Neill and Arno Bay

There are some good numbers of Yellowfin Whiting off of the beaches with many taken on lures like the Jackson EBI Panics and Daiwa Slippery Dogs, Port Neill’s beaches have been particularly good.

Off the jetties Garfish, Tommies and Snook are good with Port Neill, great for some big Snook especially after dark. Boat news has been fairly quiet but there should be plenty of Whiting, Garfish and Snook at both areas. Further up at Cowell there’s Yellowfin Whiting off the beaches and quite a few small Bronze Whalers around the 3 foot mark in the shallows.
