Fishing Report – Wednesday 15th April 2026

The hype right now is that there are tagged Salmon Trout and Salmon swimming around Port Lincoln worth up to $10,000 if caught, there’s plenty of fishers out there chasing a tagged fish around Port Lincoln and if you want to give it a go you must register on the Let’s Go Fishing website before fishing. If you catch a tagged Salmon without registering, you won’t be able to claim the $10,000 dollars if you catch a tagged Salmon.

Around the state tagged Salmon have already been caught in other rounds so you are not wasting your time. There’s plenty of other fish out their, Flathead are fishing really well and so are Whiting. The weather has turned for the better and now is prime time to be out fishing.

Here’s what has been biting over the last week.

Elliston

Mostly Flathead news this week from around Elliston and also Whiting, casting soft plastics around the beaches at Elliston is producing some nice Flathead and also Whiting, the Arma Paddle Tails have been doing the damage pink and orange coloured ones have been the best choice.

Salmon have been getting around on the calmer days when the coast hasn’t been pounded by the wind and swell. Sheringa and Locks Well have had the best reports for Salmon.

With the great weather we have right now don’t waste the opportunity to head offshore as the fishing has been excellent for big Nannygai, Blue Morwong and Sharks, out from Elliston right up to Streaky is excellent. Tuna news has been much slower but they are still out there in a few areas. The Halco Laser Pro in the TNT colour is excellent late in the season.

Coffin Bay

There are some good reports again from Coffin Bay and the Flathead fishing has been good in this area, there has been some great reports for Salmon up to 60cm from many areas, there are no area better than the other, there’s just a lot areas to choose from but look for areas close to shore with rock, weed and sand that’s where they like to be. Soft plastics are the most popular method to catch one and the Arma Paddle Tails, Jackson Bone Baits and Nomad Prawns are just some of the best ones to have.

Whiting, Salmon Trout, Tommies, Snook and Gummy Sharks are also popular targets in the bays right now with plenty of good catches reported. Land based fishers have caught their fair share of fish off the rocks and boat fishers don’t have to go far, but if going that little bit further is your thing then Farm Beach is certainly well worth the trip. There’s good fishing here for Whiting and some areas have good sized fish, 40cm plus. Whiting are just about showing up in most good grounds here. There are Garfish, Tommies, Salmon Trout and a few Squid also and there are School Sharks and Gummy Sharks showing up in the deeper water areas of Farm Beach and also at Coles Point. They are easy to target and getting a burley trail going of fish heads and fish scraps will see a few Sharks show up.

Offshore reports have been slow this week the weather over the weekend didn’t help but next week there’s sure to be plenty of good reports.   The reefs have plenty of Nannygai and a few big Blue Morwong along with School Sharks. Rocky Island is best for the Tuna, Samson fish and Kingfish and Greenly Island will also be worth a fish for the same species.

Salmon news has been slower due to the weather but now it is good the good surf beaches should be firing.

Port Lincoln

Jetty fishing has been great recently with the town jetty and main wharf firing, there is plentty of Salmon Trout, small Salmon and some good-sized King George Whiting mostly off the town jetty and there still some good-sized Crabs off of the town jetty and well worth throwing in a net here.

Yellowfin Whiting can be caught at North Shields and Louth Bay off of the beaches and there’s a few Flathead now showing up along the North Shore and the national park. Squid are also around, probably not quite as many as the weeks before off the jetties and rocks around Port Lincoln.

Boat fishers can still find plenty of Crabs, they don’t seem to be slowing down and look like they are getting bigger. They are around at the Limani, Proper, Spalding Cove and plenty of other areas also. Whiting can be found in many areas throughout the bays and its pretty much head to your favorite area and give it go, chances are you will get a feed. Down the coast Squid are slowly making a comeback around Taylors and Thistle Island with a few showing up. Whiting are good here and there’s no shortage of them around these areas, using Vexed Micro Meat jigs have been great for the Whiting recently.

Offshore reports have been few and far between but with the good weather this week there’s sure to be some good reports next week. Nannygai, Blue Morwong, Samson fish and Sharks will be located out on the reefs and for Tuna the Cabbage Patch is the best spot but there’s not heaps there.

For Salmon there’s still no shortage along the Sleaford coast, they are probably smaller than they were but there’s still some good fish there, 1.5kg – 3kg is the size range and lure fishing has been best when schools of Salmon are in close. The Arma Flash Harrys and Nuggets and the Buku Flutter Bombs are proven Salmon slayers.

Tumby Bay

There’s a few Squid off of the jetty now along with Tommies and some Salmon Trout, Flathead are well worth targeting now and there should be some good ones showing up on the beaches.

Yellowfin Whiting also have been caught recently and caught on baits and lures. Boat fishers are still having a great time out at the Group for Whiting, Snook, Trevally, Garfish and Squid. The Snook are good sizes with some monsters being reported at 80cm plus. Rapala X Rap 10s do the damage on the big Snook.

In closer it is much the same for Whiting, Snook, Garfish and a few more Squid now showing up. South of Tumby to Bolingbroke is the best area.

Port Neill and Arno Bay

Yellowfin Whiting are still the most reported fish in the area from Port Neill to Cowell with some good schools of fish showing up. Squid are starting to show up in better numbers too but are mostly small ones but it’s good to see that they are coming back. Boat fishers will be able to find Whiting, Garfish and Snook with ease in both areas.
