There’s been more great fishing reports from many areas this week from all over the EP. There’s been a good influx of spring fish from many areas with more to come over the next month and it will only get better each week.
Here’s what has been biting over the last week.
Elliston
Salmon are still biting well from most beaches in the area, Sheringa and Locks Well have had the best reports and there still are good fish around with reports of Salmon to 4kg in the area.
When the weather allows there are some cracker Nannygai from the offshore grounds along with Blue Morwong and Sharks. A mixture of Whiting, Garfish, Snook and Squid can be caught from Venus, Baird and Streaky Bays for boat fishers and land based fishers can also get in on the act from various good land based areas.
Mulloway news from further west has been good so far early in the season with some nice fish already caught in the 120-130cm range. There’s also plenty of Salmon and Bronze Whaler Sharks both big and small. There are plenty of fishers gearing up and heading up the that way and we have plenty of the new range of innovative Vexed terminal tackle in store that includes the Dingle Dangles, Vexed Mulloway pulley rigs and plenty more to make surf fishing more successful.
Coffin Bay
There’s a lot more fishing action in the bays with Whiting, Salmon Trout, Tommies, Garfish, Snook and Gummy Sharks all within the bays. Boat fishers and land based fishers have all been getting in on the action.
Farm Beach is going very well for Qhiting with plenty of great reports. The Z-man worms and Vexed Micro Meat jigs have been working very well and baits for the traditional fishers are still good. There’s some nice Garfish, Tommies, Salmon Trout, Snook and Squid on many of these spots as well. There would also be a few Bronze Whaler Sharks starting to show up as well as School and Gummy Sharks that can be easily targeted out from Frenchman’s and Coles Point.
Offshore fishing conditions haven’t been the best but finally there has been some decent weather and next week we should have some better reports. You can expect all of the usual species out there like Nannygai, Blue Morwong and Sharks.
Surf fishers are still getting stuck into the Salmon from beaches like Gunyah and Greenly but all other beaches are well worth having crack.
Port Lincoln
Reports are much better now with a good mixture of fish now reported. Squid, Garfish, Whiting, Tommies and Snook can all be caught from either the jetties or by boat in the bays. The Garfish are good with nice ones being caught from many areas and they sound like the star of the show right now and there are a few Blue Crabs around, not many but enough for a feed.
Further down the coast Whiting have fired up again down the coast around McLarens and Taylors and also Thistle Island has been good for these fish. There’s also Squid, Tommies, Snook and patches of Garfish.
Offshore news has been fairly average with the weather but like all other areas next week there should be some much better news. Salmon fishing continues to be excellent with good reports from within the national park along the Sleaford Coast. There’s some excellent schools of Salmon taking lures and baits. When the fish are schooled up in close to shore lure fishing is the way to go with the Daiwa Over There stick baits, Arma twist, Shimano wonder fall jigs and the Samaki rib cage jigs are the way to go and fish in the 3-4kg range can be caught here.
Tumby Bay
Really good fishing out at the Group with some big Whiting have been caught recently in the 50cm range. Plenty of smaller fish are the 36-42cm which are better eating. Squid are getting better and so are the Garfish, there is also Salmon in some areas, Snook and some decent sized Silver Trevally.
In closer the fishing is better for Garfish and Squid. It was slow for them for quite a while but things are getting much better. Whiting and Snook also can be caught in decent numbers from a range of the inshore grounds around Tumby.
Port Neill and Arno Bay
Things are turning around here with Whiting, Garfish, Snook and Squid all being reported from this area mostly for the boat fishers but jetty fishers should be able to catch some nice Squid and Garfish from the Port Neill Jetty.
The beaches south of Port Neill are starting to produce some good Bronze Whaler Sharks in the 8-9 foot range, There should be plenty more caught and released in the coming months. If your after Shark gear we have plenty in store included our exclusive land based game Shimano bronzie basher rod which is hughley popular with the land based shark fishers.
