Fishing Report – Wednesday 18th March 2026

Fishing reports have been generally very good from most areas, lots of Crabs, Salmon, Garfish, Whiting and now Flathead are really starting to be reported. There’s some good offshore fishing to be had for Nannygai and Sharks and the weather is looking better and hopefully it continues, as we have had our fair share of wind this year and it’s time we had some long extended period of calm stable weather.

Here’s what has been biting.

Elliston

Tuna news seems to have shrunk up a bit with reports of fishers doing the miles for very little return. Up at Streaky Bay there are many more fish up there and not to hard to find by the sounds of it, there are plenty of big Nannygai on the reefs which aren’t to hard to find and there are some good Blue Morwong, the odd Harlequin and School Sharks as well. Most good reef systems between Elliston and Streaky have some good fishing.

Beach fishing is still quite good for Salmon and it should only get better. Salmon can be found on most surf beaches with Locks Well having the best Salmon reports. Talia has a few Sharks Gummies and Bronze Whalers mostly and late afternoon and into the night is the best time.

Walkers Rocks has some Flathead and Whiting off of the beach here and Whiting can also be caught of the beaches at Elliston itself along with some nice Tommies and some Mullet.

Coffin Bay

There’s been more Flathead reported with more fishers out there giving it a crack now, no monster just yet but they would be out there. You can fish right in town or head out a bit with plenty of areas to try. Casting soft plastics has been the best way to catch them with Jackson Bone Baits, Arma Paddle Tails and Daiwa Bait Junkies leading the way for the Flathead. Whiting also have been quite good with some nice ones caught in the bays.

You will also find good fish off the rocks with Seal Corner, the Ledge and there’s plenty of good rock areas in Dutton Bay that will also produce some good Whiting. There is Snook, Tommies, Garfish and some nice Gummy Sharks to be caught.

Farm Beach is also firing for Whiting and most areas are good with very few areas that don’t have Whiting. The Z-Man plastic worms and the ever reliable Vexed Micro Meat jigs have been the go for the Whiting. Garfish also have been good with plenty around and if you catch your Whiting in quick time, Garfish are a good option. Snook, Tommies, Salmon Trout also can be caught.

In the deeper water give the Gummies and School Sharks a go and off of Frenchman’s, Coles Point and around Little Rocky Island there’s some good fishing for these Sharks.

Further offshore Nannygai, Blue Morwong, and Sharks again have been caught on the reefs. Tuna news has been scarce again this week with very few reported, Rocky Island might be you best shot for Tuna. There are Kingfish and Samson fish out there around the island as well.

For Salmon it has been quite good fishing at Greenly Beach, this area has the best Salmon reports this week. Casting lures off the beach has been popular with the Buku Flutter Bomb jigs highly successful along with the Arma Flash Harry and Jackson Metal Effect lures great for casting.

Port Lincoln

There are really good numbers of Salmon which have been caught at the main wharf with Salmon showing up most days. The town jetty has better numbers of Squid and also the Kirton Point jetty. There are some good number of Garfish off of the jetties with Louth Bay the pick of all the jetties for Garfish at the moment. Blue Crabs can be caught off of the town jetty and nighttime rakers can rake a few Crabs at night in the shallows around Port Lincoln.

Boat fishing news consists mostly of blue crabs, there are plenty around this year and it doesn’t take long to get a feed of Crabs even on slow tides. The Proper and the Limani have been excellent but there are heaps of other areas around the Port Lincoln with Crabs. Snook are also very thick right now with plenty around in the bays, trolling Daiwa Double Clutchs and Jackson G-Control lures around have been highly effective on the Snook. There are better numbers of Whiting around now and also Squid which are best around Boston Island.

Further down the coast there’s good Whiting fishing at Taylors ands Thistle Island and there are plenty of fish there and it doesn’t take to long to catch a feed of fish. There is also Snook and good numbers of Garfish around McLarens Point.

Offshore news consists mostly of Nannygai, Blue Morwong, Sharks and a few Samson fish. Some reefs around Williams Island and east of Low Rocks are plagued with Snapper so it’s best to avoid those areas. Tuna news has been fairly average with none received this week.

For Salmon the Sleaford Coast still has plenty of schools but you will need to move along the coast to find the schools. Bronze Whalers Sharks are just about on every school of Salmon and using live Salmon for bait should get you hooked up to a Shark.

 Tumby Bay

The Group has had some good Whiting fishing once again, more big fish have been reported again over 50cm and there’s plenty of other really good fish in the 40cm mark. Snook are also very good and trolling lures around the islands you can also get a few Salmon. The Snook are big ones with many fish around the 80cm mark so using bigger lures is better with the Rapala X Rap 10’s a good choice. Garfish and Silver Trevally can also be found and a few big Squid.

In closer there is Whiting, Snook and Garfish, Squid are still a bit slower. There’s some big Yellowfin Whiting off of the beaches around Tumby for lure fishers and bait fishers alike.

Port Neill and Arno Bay

Yellowfin Whiting seem to be going really well here, most good beaches in the area and up to Cowell are fishing well. Lure fishing has been one of the most popular methods here with the Jabbers Honcho Stick Baits, Zip Bait Skinny Pops and the Jackson EBI Panics are very popular with the Whiting fishers. Snook also have been caught from Port Neill jetty at night and there is plenty of Garfish in the area. Flathead can be caught off of the beaches here in this area and well the try.

Boat news has been slow but there’s sure to be some good Whiting fishing in the area. Arno has had the better reports out of the two areas.
