Fishing Report – Wednesday 22nd October 2025

The fishing generally has been good from most areas around the coast with again some nice fish getting caught. Whiting and Garfish have been widely reported from around the west coast.

Salmon numbers have dropped off and Squid are making a steady comeback on the eastern side of the EP.

Here’s what has been caught over the last week.

Elliston

Mostly Salmon reports again from the beaches in the area and most beaches are fairly reliable, smaller fish like Mullet, Tommies, Flathead and a few Whiting can be caught on the more sheltered beaches in the area.

Further up the coast at Venus Bay and Streaky Bay there’s Whiting, Garfish, Snook, Tommies, Salmon Trout and Squid more so at Streaky. Further west this week off of the surf beaches there’s only been reports of big Salmon and plenty of Bronze Whaler Sharks of all sizes all west of Ceduna.

Coffin Bay

Some good fishing here this week with plenty of fish around in the bays. Whiting, Salmon Trout, Tommies, Snook and Garfish can all be caught from rock areas and also by the boat fishers and the fishing seems to be quite consistent.

Farm Beach is also good with plenty of fish there also, Whiting are the star attraction here with plenty of fish here from most good Whiting areas. Those using the Vexed micro meat jigs and the new Z-Man plastic worms have been catching plenty as well as those using the traditional Whiting rigs. Salmon Trout, Garfish, Tommies, Snook and the odd Flathead have also been caught there while Gummy Sharks also can be caught here in the deeper water areas.

For Salmon many of the beaches are starting to become hit and miss, it is still well worth hitting the beaches as there can be some big schools of Salmon still present. Almonta and Greenly Beaches seem to be the areas with the best numbers of Salmon.

Port Lincoln

Off the jetties Squid numbers are ok and you should be able to get enough for a feed. Garfish also are in reasonable numbers and there have been some good catches reported from North Shields and Louth Bay jetties, rock areas also have been producing some good ones.

It probably won’t be too long now until the rat Kingfish start to show up from the jetties with the Garfish numbers increasing. There are some whiting from the rocks at Tulka in the early mornings and also within the national park at McLarens Point there’s some decent Whiting and big Squid can also be caught of the rocks here.

Boat fishers are finding some Squid, Whiting, Snook and Garfish in the bays and further down the Passage there are Whiting from Carcase Rocks down to Thistle Island. Squid, Garfish and Snook can all be found in these areas.

Salmon fishing in the national park is also hit and miss with Salmon along the Sleaford Coast one day and then none the next, if you do find them they are usually good ones and they have been taking lures like the Arma Twist, Moxie Metals and the Daiwa Over There Stick baits.

Tumby Bay

There have been some decent patches of Squid around on the inshore grounds, they aren’t everywhere and you do need to look for them. Whiting, Snook and Garfish also can be found on the inshore grounds with Whiting in good numbers.

At the Group, there’s been mixed reports, some say the fishing is great and others struggling. I guess you have to go with the good reports and that is for Whiting there are some decent sized fish that have been caught. Salmon, Trevally, Snook and a few Squid are around as well.

Port Neill and Arno Bay

Both areas have better fishing reports for Squid, Whiting, Snook and Garfish, its still not what it should be but it is improving. There have been some good sized Whiting at both areas.

Port Neill Jetty is good for some decent sized Squid.
