Fishing Report – Wednesday 27th May 2026

The weather has been fairly consistent with mostly light winds for a while now and the fishing has been mostly good on the western side of the EP and the eastern side has been hit and miss. We are now well and truly into the winter fish patterns now and it’s a good time to rethink your fishing tactics if you haven’t already done so.

Salmon, Flathead and Whiting have been the most popular fish recently but Garfish have been biting very aggressively in the last few weeks and schooled up in big numbers. Gummy and School Sharks are biting well and there’s still some good reports of big Bronze Whalers Sharks getting hooked from land based locations and there is some good fishing for Nannygai and big Blue Morwong offshore.

Here’s what has been biting over the last week.

Elliston

The annual Elliston Salmon comp starts next week and by the reports so far it should be a good start. Sheringa and Talia have the most consistent reports this week but Locks Well will have fish also, there can’t have been too many people this week that wanted to take the stairs, from all reports this week there are good fish around the 3kg mark.

You will also find some good Flathead off of the beaches around Elliston and also up at Streaky Bay and Haslam for those venturing a bit further west. Offshore fishing has been really good in the Elliston to Streaky area with some really good Nannygai, Blue Morwong, the odd Harlequin and School Sharks. Vexed Bottom Meat Jigs have been excellent for the offshore fishers.

Squid are being caught from all jetties from Elliston to Ceduna and there are good sized Tommies and Snook at most of these jetties as well.

Coffin Bay

It is really good fishing here right in the bays, bag limits of Whiting have been caught off of the rocks from many areas around Coffin Bay and fish to 38cm have been reported, the fishing has been easy from what we have been told. Look at Snapper Rocks, the Ledge and Seal Corner for a start and there are plenty of other areas fishing really well. Garfish have been firing off of the Dutton Bay jetty and there are some good schools of Garishf spread right out in the bays. Flathead also have been caught again and some good ones in the high 50cm mark not quite 60cm. Soft Plastics like the Arma Paddle Tails, Daiwa Bait Junkie 5inch Jerk Shad in the creaming soda colour and Jackson Bone Baits have been excellent. Gummy Sharks are also plentiful within the bays and the Eagle Rays are thinning out which is better for your tackle.

Whiting fishing out off of Farm Beach is also good with some great reports from most areas, there are some good fish from the deeper water areas.

Offshore fishing has been good, there are some big School Sharks, Nannygai, Blue Morwong and the odd Harlequin fish here as well. The Nomad SquidTrex and Buku Flutter Bomb jigs worked well for a couple of customers out there this last week.

Salmon fishing has been best at Greenly and Convention Beaches, not many reports from the other beaches but there is sure to be plenty around out there.

Port Lincoln

Mixed reports here this week, some really good and others really bad, but that is fishing. The best Whiting reports have come from the North Shore and Boston Island, they are also in other areas within the bays but you just have to go and search for them. Snook have been good for boat trollers using Daiwa Double Clutch lures with plenty still around to be caught. Garfish are hungry and of excellent size right now and there are plenty of areas where you can catch a feed of big fish.

Further down the coast Whiting are at Thistle and Taylors but it can be very hit and miss. There are some really good fish there if you get onto them. Offshore reports are quite good for Nannygai and Blue Morwong south of Thistle and Williams Island. If you hit the Snapper schools it’s not worth staying just move on as they are very thick in some areas.

There are reports of the big Bluefin Tuna not too far away and wouldn’t be surprised if there are some out there or they should be here very soon. We are well stocked on the gear for these big fish we are ready to go if you want to give it crack, have chat with the fellas in the store and we can get you started.

Salmon are schooled up in big numbers along the Sleaford coast and all you need is some good weather with light winds and low swell and you can have a great day out on the Salmon, lure fishing has been the best way to catch these fish and jigs like the Buku Flutter Bombs, Jabbers Moxie Metals and the Jackson Metal Effects have been excellent lures.

Tumby Bay/Port Neill/Arno Bay

Not too much news from this area as it has been fairly quiet and the Whiting fishing has been hit and miss from most of main areas. It should turn around within a few weeks and things should be back to normal soon. There are plenty of Garfish as alternative, Snook and some big Tommies for the boat fishers. There has been some good Flathead fishing off of the beaches from south of Tumby to Cowell and all good-looking areas are worth flicking around a few plastics to see if there are any fish there. South of Port Neill there’s some good Salmon fishing of the beaches.
