Fishing Report – Wednesday 28th October 2026

Plenty more good reports from right around the coast now as fishers are getting ready with the warmer weather. Whiting and Garfish dominate reports from many areas around the coast but there’s also Sharks, Salmon, Snook, Tommies and Kingfish. The weather looks to be better this weekend and there should be plenty of fishers hitting the water.

Here’s what has been biting over the last week.

Elliston

Whiting have been on the bite out around Waldegrove Island and a few Gummy Sharks also. Offshore some big Nannygai haven’t been too hard to come across and also some big Blue Morwong. Most reefs up to Streaky are fishing much the same with some really good offshore fishing. Vexed Bottom Meat jigs have been excellent for this kind of fishing and are super easy to use and highly effective. Beach news has been fairly quiet this week, just a few Salmon reports from Sheringa. There would be a mixture of Sharks also from most of the beaches in the area, School, Gummies and Bronze Whalers can be caught. There are Flathead also from surf beaches and there are also a few Flathead from more sheltered and shallower beaches also in the area and up to Streaky Bay.

Further west beach fishing has also been good. There are a few areas with some nice Mulloway but you do need to pick your days. Warm days with a northerly wind and light swell has been the trick. Most good surf beaches past Ceduna do have Salmon and Sharks and plenty of Bronze Whalers in the 3-5 foot range. It’s still only early for the Mulloway guys and things will get better soon.

Coffin Bay

There’s been some good Whiting reports this week within the bays for the land-based fishers and if you do things right you shouldn’t have any problems finding a few fish for a feed. Tommies, Salmon Trout and Snook also have been biting, and Daiwa Double Clutch lures have excellent for those fish. Garfish are best in Dutton Bay and the boat fishers should be able to find some decent numbers of them with a decent burley trail. Gummy Sharks have been a bit hit and miss this week with not too many reports but Eagle Rays have been fairly prevalent.

Farm Beach has been firing again for Whiting with many areas fishing really well, the deeper water grounds off the Fence line have had some really good fish up to 45cm reported by a few boats. These deeper water areas are better also for Gummy Sharks with less Eagle Rays.

Offshore there’s lots of School Sharks if you head north towards Krase Rocks along with Nannygai and Blue Morwong. South of Point Sir Isaacs past Reef Head there’s not as many School Sharks and not as many Snapper either. Nannygai fishing is pretty good there also.

For Salmon Gunyah and Almonta seem to be the place to be with Salmon fishing ok most good days. You Will need light wind and low swell. Lures have been good here when you locate a school of fish with the Jackson Metal Effects, Buku Flutter Bombs and the Arma Flash Harrys the most popular lures for the Salmon.

Port Lincoln

The two jetties have again fished well with Whiting again reported this week, big Tommies, Snook and Garfish also reported. There are some Salmon Trout also coming off the main wharf. Other land based reports have been Garfish and Tommies mostly caught from a number of areas from North Shields right into the national park. Donnington to Taylors Landing is good and there’s also a few big Snook to be caught off the rocks.

Boat fishers are finding Whiting, Garfish, Snook and Tommies spread right through out the bays. Spalding Cove the Proper have been the areas with the best reports but there are fish from most areas. Down the Passage only a few reports, the weather wasn’t then best over the weekend  but there are fish around Taylors and Thistle Island. Before the weekend Nannygai and Blue Morwong were reported from the offshore grounds south of Williams with some decent fish being caught.

The south coast is still very reliable for Salmon with plenty of schools right along the Wanna to Wreck Beach area. Big Bronze Whaler Sharks aren’t too far behind them.

Tumby Bay

Fishing is good here, Whiting, Garfish and Snook are the most reported fish here. The inshore grounds are fairly reliable both north and south of Tumby and there’s been reports from both areas. The Z-Man plastic worms have been good in the shallows.

The Group has been good but only a few reports, Whiting have been easy to find from the few reports that we have received and then there’s Snook which can be easily caught trolling diving lures around the islands.

Arno Bay and Port Neill

This week we have only had reports from Arno Bay. Snapper can be a problem so it might be best to go easy on the burley but there are some really good Whiting and good numbers of fish to. They aren’t too far from town either which makes it easy on the wallet when you look at fuel price.
