Salmon and Whiting have been the main reported fish this week with mixed weather conditions. There have only been a few other reports which mostly consist of Gummy and School Sharks from land based areas and a few boat fishers have also found a few.
Here’s what has been biting.
Elliston
All Salmon news here and not much else, just about all beaches between Sheringa and Mount Camel have Salmon. Locks Well and Talia Beaches are the most popular and the biggest fish have come from Talia. You will also find Gummy and School Sharks from Sheringa and Talia Beach if you target them in the darkness. There’s still a few Flathead caught on Salmon lines around Elliston, mostly at Talia.
News from other areas has slowed down further west, but the fishing should be excellent and the monster Salmon should be red hot around Fowlers Bay right now.
Coffin Bay
Reports have slowed down within the bays and we have had just a few reports with Salmon Trout, Tommies and a few Whiting in close around the town, The better reports have come from Farm Beach where the fishing is consistently good for Whiting from just about all areas. The Sandhills has been firing as well. The Z-Man plastic worms have been excellent here and a few fishers have also been scoring Whiting on the small Nomad Squidtrex lures as well as all your favourite baits. There are areas with some goods numbers of big Tommies here and School Sharks and Gummies can also be caught here, mostly in the deeper water out from Frenchman’s and Coles Point. Its pretty much a sure bet if you get a burley trail going you will find a few Sharks.
Salmon fishing is also very consistent from all good Salmon beaches as long as the conditions are good, you will find some Salmon off of the beaches.
Port Lincoln
There’s still a few land based Whiting reports from around town with the North Shore and Tulka being the better spots, not much else has been reported. Boat fishers are still finding Whiting along the North Shore, late in the day and into the night seem the be the best time and fish size has been excellent. There are a few Whiting in the Proper, Spalding Cove and also around Boston Island. The Passage has been really good after a dry spell with some really good reports from mostly around Taylors but there are fish at Mclarens, Carcase and Thistle Island also and there are really good sized fish at these locations. Vexed Micro Meat jigs are working really well in the deeper water areas. In the Passage there’s always the chance of a Gummy Shark while fishing for Whiting.
For Salmon the south coast is alive with Salmon schools all along Sleaford Bay. Lure fishing is probably the best way with Buku Flutter Bombs, Jackson Metal Effects and Arma Flash Harrys some of the best lures going.
Tumby Bay/Port Neill/Arno Bay
Whiting, Snook and Tommies are on the bite at all these areas with the best reports from out at the Group at Tumby but Arno Bay has some monster Whiting also. The beaches south of Port Neill are also good for Salmon around the 1-1.5kg mark and there is also still a few Flathead around which can make the trip well worth it.
