Fishing Report – Wednesday 8th July 2026

The fishing has largely been the same this week as previous weeks gone by Salmon, Whiting and School Sharks are the main catches being reported again this week. The weather has been a bit up and down with most reports being land based or inshore boat fishing.

Here’s what has been on the bite.

Elliston

Salmon fishing has been quite good with the best fish coming from Talia and there has been 4kg fish there, from now on better sized fish should be fairly regular. At Talia you are better off with bait fishing here and really big fish love Salmon fillets. Locks Well is the next best spot with good schools of fish showing up here and then there is Sheringa and Mount Camel also have some decent fishing for Salmon.

There are some Flathead scattered around Elliston and also up around Streaky there’s been a few other reports for Flathead. School Sharks, Gummies and even the odd small Bronze Whaler have been reported from the Salmon surf beaches in recent weeks, so there’s not just Salmon around.

Boat news has been very quiet this week, hopefully there will be some in the next week or two.

Coffin Bay

There’s been plenty of Whiting reports from close in but mostly out at Farm Beach, regular Whiting fishers have been catching plenty and there’s been some decent sized fish also out there at Farm Beach over 40cm.

In the bays there’s also been few Gummy Sharks around at night and setting up a good burley trail will get them sniffing around if they are in the area. School Sharks can be caught out from Frenchman’s and Coles Point by also setting up a burley trail and the odd decent sized Nannygai. School Sharks are also active at night off of the rock areas at Frenchman’s, Coles Point and Mount Drummond, you can also expect some decent sized Sharks at these locations.

For Salmon there’s good fish at just about all areas now, Gunyah, Almonta, Greenly, Convention Beach and Mount Drummond, take a pick at the area, and you will be in luck. Lure fishing has been the preferred method with Jackson Metal Effects, Buku Flutter Bombs and Jabbers Moxie Metals, just some of the best metal lures for Salmon.

Port Lincoln

The best jetty reports have come from the main wharf, Salmon Trout and Tommies are the go here with some decent catches, it’s a good place to take the kids over the school holidays and an easy place to fish.

Whiting have been active off of the rocks at Tulka and generally there’s been some decent catches, good sized fish and those that know what they are doing are catching their 10 fish of the rocks. The Vexed Whiting rigs have been the go here with the lumo sinker and the rubber worm above the hooks and the cast out really well. Boat fishers have been able to pick up fish at many different areas within the bays. You might need to move around quite a bit to find them but generally there’s been some decent catches reported this week. There’s also some big Garfish around too, they are a bit harder to find now but if your after them the size of fish are excellent and are big fat fish right now and in their prime.

Down the coast Whiting can be found from Carcase Rocks right down to Thistle Island and there are some good patches of fish around and when you hit them they are biting hard and the fishing is great. Vexed Micro Meat jigs have been the go to for Whiting.

For Salmon Sleaford Bay has been one of the consistent locations on the West Coast and there’s no shortage of Salmon down there at the moment, they are schooled up well and lure fishing has been highly effective.

Tumby Bay/Port Neill/Arno Bay

Only had reports from Tumby this week and there is big Whiting there in close and also out at the Group. Not many fish are under the 40cm mark and the fishing is quite good, sometimes slow but when they start to bite, they bite hard. Gummy Sharks can also be caught out at the Group if you’re after something a bit bigger. Garfish can be caught on some of the inshore grounds but burley up and use good quality gents for bait, which we now have available in store.
