Fishing Report – Wednesday 8th October 2026

Not bad fishing weather over the weekend with some decent reports starting to filter through now, most areas have experienced some good fishing with summer fish now starting to be reported in better numbers.

Here’s what has been caught over the last week.

Elliston

Reports have been mostly very good, Whiting have been caught by the boat fishers on the inshore grounds and there are also a few Gummy Sharks on these grounds taking Whiting lines, there is some decent sized Snook also.

Offshore there’s some cracker Nannygai, Blue Morwong, Gummy and School Sharks and some areas have plenty of Samson fish taking JT Jigs one of the favourite jigs on the west coast.

The jetty has a few big Squid, Tommies and some big Garfish. Venus Bay is good for some Squid, Whiting and Salmon Trout. Squid also have been going well between Streaky and Ceduna and many fishers have been spending a day here in these areas before heading further west for Mulloway. There are Mulloway off of the beaches here. The Dog Fence has been the best area so far with the best reports and already some really good fish have been reported.

There are also some good Gummy Sharks, Bronze Whalers, Salmon and Taylor from many of the beaches in the area. To keep the Rays and Crabs away from your bait many fishers have been using the Vexed Dingle Dangles which floats your bait off of the bottom away from crabs and rays.

Coffin Bay

There is some decent reports from within the bays with some decent catches reported. Whiting top the list here with fish caught off of the rocks and by the boats. Garfish numbers are getting better also with Dutton Bay one of the better spots and then there’s Salmon Trout, Tommies better numbers of Snook and Gummy Sharks also.

Farm Beach has been quite good with many areas reporting good numbers of Whiting. There are a few decent sized fish also mixed in. There’s also been a few good Flathead caught and in the deeper water areas a few Gummy Sharks have been hooked.

Offshore if you get the chance Nannygai have been biting on the deep water reefs and also School Sharks where some areas have very high numbers of School Sharks.

For Salmon there’s been fish from most of the beaches in the area with Gunyah, Almonta and Greenly Beach are the beaches with the best reports. The fish sizes are mixed 1-3kg mostly from what we have heard. Lures and pilchard baits have been the best with the Arma flash harry, Jabbers moxie metals and Jackson metal effects just some of the really good lures to cast to the Salmon.

Port Lincoln

Land based news is still not that great but for Garfish numbers are getting better. Murrays Point and the North Shore do seem to be the best areas and catches have been fairly good so far. The national park is fishing much better for land based fishers with a good mixture of fish like Flathead, Whiting, Snook, Tommies and Garfish caught from rock and beach areas between Donnington and Taylors Landing. No Shark news just yet for the sharkers but they won’t be too far away.

Boat fishers are finding Whiting spread right out in the bays, there’s many areas with fish but none really stand out just yet. Garfish and Snook also are being reported with decent numbers around. The best Whiting fishing has been taking place in the Passage between Carcase Rocks and Thistle Island. Thistle Island has been firing with plenty of fish some over 50cm and the other main areas can be very hit and miss but if you stick at it and move around you will hit them and have biting very well. There’s also some good Snook around in these areas which love the Daiwa Double Clutch lures.

Offshore  the Nannygai have been around on most reefs taking the Vexed Bottom Meat jigs and there are also School Sharks and Blue Morwong. Snapper have been around on some of these reefs in high numbers so you will have to move off the Snapper reefs and not waste your time there. T

There’s still plenty of Salmon along the Sleaford coast with schools of fish all along the area. Lure fishing has been best way of catching a Salmon when the schools are in close, with most fish are in the 2-3kg range.

Tumby Bay/ Port Neill/Arno Bay

The jetty at Tumby has had a few Salmon Trout and Tommies and there should be a few Garfish starting to show up off of the jetty. Boat fishers can find Whiting and Garfish not far from town both North and South of Tumby do have fish.

The Group has been much better with plenty of variety on offer. Whiting, Trevally, Snook, Garfish, Tommies and even the odd Gummy Shark have all been reported.

Port Neill and Arno Bay have mostly Whiting and Garfish reports from the boat fishers and Cowell is much the same with hit and miss fishing for the Whiting, but there are some really good fish in these areas.
