FREEDOM8 is a personal electronic shark deterrent designed for ocean users, including swimmers, snorkellers, surfers, divers, spearfishers and marine professionals. When activated, it generates an electric field in the surrounding water, designed to trigger an aversive response in approaching sharks and encourage them to turn away.

Built on more than two decades of electronic shark deterrent development, FREEDOM8 draws on technology supported by independent scientific research. Peer-reviewed studies conducted by leading shark researchers and universities have examined earlier electronic deterrent systems using this technology, demonstrating reductions in close-range shark interactions under tested conditions.

While these findings provide a scientific foundation for the underlying technology, they do not represent independent performance testing of the FREEDOM8 model itself.
